PICK & PLACE SPIDER ROBOT PACKAGING MACHINE
A chicken packaging company were packing their chicken products in plastic bags and cardboard boxes by hand. The boxes were delivered by one conveyor belt and the plastic bags by another. Four members of staff were needed on the production line just to keep pace with the conveyor belts. The Pick & Place spider robot packaging machine has automated part of the task.
A special camera in the illuminated display (shown in blue) 'sees' how the plastic bags are positioned on the conveyor belt. This information is relayed to the spider robot so that it can pick up the bags and place them correctly in the box. The spider robot has been installed in a frame equipped with four small hatches fitted with safety sensors. The parameters of the spider robot can be set for a variety of products using a touchscreen.
